Election Thoughts I - Why did I support Barack Obama?

OK this is a personal note/rant/rave etc.

I write this as a Christian, African-American woman UNAPOLOGETIC in holding to the testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ as being LORD and fully God, so I do not expect most of you to agree with the points I am about to make here... Oh well... I'm used to that :)

Despite many misgivings about both candidates as a Christian woman, I weighted the pros and cons and decided pretty early on to vote for Barack Obama. John McCain had a pretty good chance of getting my vote early on ESPECIALLY if Hillary Clinton became the Democratic Presidential Nominee, and that is real. I didn't like the kind of campaign she ran, or HER for that matter...

McCain flipped on his policies all of a sudden become buddy buddy with George W. Bush, and let's not even talk about Sarah PAIN... (misspelling intended.)

I am also pro-life and against gay marriage, (oops loosing lots of friends now... ROFL) which Barack Obama has voted unanimously to uphold many times during his tenure in the senate.

I have reason to dislike both of them, so... why did I vote for Barack Obama?

The bible says that by their fruits you will know them... right? (Matthew 7:16, 20)

So I looked at their "fruit" the deeds they have openly done and it seems to me that while McCain does vote in accordance to what I believe, he totally flipped on issues he has spoken openly about. I have heard him attack Bush's policies in the past, only to flip when he became the Republican Nominee. Now it would be different that if the man realized the error of his ways and turned away from those beliefs, but it was OBVIOUS he was doing this to appeal to his Republican base that still support Dubya. He also seems to have a temper which is not a quality that I want in a president who has access to the nukes, and let's face it, the type of campaign he ran was just dirty and despicable.

I have followed the career of John McCain for the last 7 years, and I believe if McCain ran a TRUE to himself campaign of being a Moderate, without selling out to the far right Republicans, this election would have been much closer than you saw Tuesday night. Looking at his concession speech, it reminded me of the McCain that I remember, one who was a TRUE maverick, and didn't let anyone dictate what he believed. He would have gotten my vote if he approached his campaign with that kind of honesty PLUS didn't slap us in the face with an joke of a VP pick like Sarah Palin, who was chosen SOLELY as a means to grab scorned Hillary supporters and as appeal to the white redneck supposedly Christian right wing base. He criticized Bush's policies in the past only to turn around and support them to win over the Republicans and ran one of the dirtiest campaigns of our time... AND to add insult to injury, he supports a war Bush started on false pretenses. With all the misgivings I had about Obama (being pro-choice, sometimey etc.) I just couldn't endorse McCain.

AT LEAST Barack Obama is mostly forthright with his policies, and stayed true to himself. AT LEAST he showed he has some integrity, and did not go on attacking McCain so negatively that I would lose all respect for him. Don't believe for one second I haven't pondered who this man Obama his and why his star has risen so high in the last few years. (Next note) Some people are inherent leaders, and I see that quality right now in Obama. Not to mention the prospect of having the first Black president, I was glad to participate in history Tuesday.

So the Christian asks me: "How can you vote for Obama when he is pro-abortion and pro gay?"

Answer: I don't have to fully agree with your politics to vote for you. I know there are some people who will never vote for a Black person as president, or vote for someone who supports gay marriage or abortion. They are fully in their right to do so, but just because there is someone on the far left of your policy concerning ONE OR TWO IMPORTANT ISSUES, does not mean the OTHER CANDIDATE is your ideal in the opposite direction.

And as much as Christian radio and other outlets are sold on McCain concerning his stance on abortion, and gay marriage, these are not the ONLY ISSUES IMPORTANT TO CHRISTIANS.

Don't get me wrong, ABORTION IS A HORRIBLE PRACTICE THAT SHOULD BE BANNED, and Marriage is meant for one biologically born male and for one biologically born woman.

If you don't agree, I'll sleep like a baby.

This war we are fighting in Iraq with over 3,000 of our soldiers, and countless Iraqi citizens being killed under a FALSE PRETENSE is equally as wrong, and McCain SUPPORTS IT. Which evil outweighs the other? Both concepts are born out of greedy depraved minds. Both are wrong. I can't respect that any more than Obama fronting like he didn't know Rev. Wright was a G, (gangsta for you other folks) or his other aforementioned policies.

People treat their pastors like family and for many just "disowning" their pastors is not an option. There is a lot more to this: Barack was married here, his kids were baptized here, and I am sure he has many friends who are members of the church. The church is supposed to be a family environment and you just don't leave unless the pastor is making comments that are not biblical. Rev. Wright has not crossed that line IMHO in what I have seen in those clips they re-run in the media.

I agree with 90% of Rev. Wright has said in those clips. America's sins are piled high, but white Americans seem to think that this is God's country and God won't punish us for the mess we as a country perpetrate..... PLEASE. My God is NO respecter of persons. These white folks with all this FALSE OUTRAGE about what Rev. Wright is saying need to get out of their perfect white bubbles and accept the fact that they have indeed benefited from racist attitudes in this country... that is just true.

As for Barack, I respect his opinion not to agree with his pastor's comments but it does present a conflict... you were under his leadership for 20 years and didn't know he was like this at ALL? I frankly find this hard to believe, that is of course you were in church roster and did little to nothing else those 20 years... which is quite possible too LOL. I think Barack DOES INDEED agree with his pastor... but is lying to appease the whites that still are in their bubble. I say tell the truth, but if this is the way he chooses to do this... is he any better than McCain in this department?

All I know is that there are many folks who don't agree with what their pastor says and still come to church every Sunday... it is evident in the lives they live whether they believe the Bible or not... hopefully your pastor is preaching the REAL GOSPEL and not mess and virtual gospel concerts/tomfoolery every week... but that is another post for another day. I am sure Barack warmed the pew with his behind the same way.

When is the last time you heard of John McCain’s church? Of course you haven’t … by their FRUITS YOU WILL KNOW THEM. THEY RARELY GO!

The Republican party IMHO have been using issues that are important to Christians to pimp us FOR VOTES. They don't actually do anything of worth to AFFECT CHANGE in the issues they run on. The last 8 years have been about war, and the deregulation of many business practices to get more of our $$$. The other stuff has been used as window dressing to ensure election.

Obama isn't an "on fire" "radical evangelical" Christian and at best he is simply a social church goer. The Democrats aren't stupid and know the Evangelical base won this election for Bush in 2004... oh and Florida… They need our votes.

My pastor was talking about this last night in service... I'm glad to know we were on the same page. God lead to me read Amos, and skimmed over this passage, but my pastor re-emphasized last night... the Spirit is awesome!

Amos 5:11-13
You trample on the poor and force him to give you grain. Therefore, though you have built stone mansions, you will not live in them; though you have planted lush vineyards, you will not drink their wine. For I know how many are your offenses and how great your sins. You oppress the righteous and take bribes and you deprive the poor of justice in the courts. Therefore the prudent man keeps quiet in such times, for the times are evil.

Yes members of BOTH PARTIES are guilty of this offense.

The truth of it is that BOTH OF THESE MEN ARE FLAWED, and IMHO... both are PLAYING CHURCH. Take that however you want. I believe Obama will be the better leader out of the two.

How many men and women have you elected to offices and know they didn’t know the Lord? The far right would have you believe that just because you voted for Obama that you can’t be Christian... who are you to judge the work of my sovereign Lord? They neglect to mention that many in their parties support policies that are just as heinous to God? So should I not vote at all? One will become president...

Now that Obama is our president elect, we need to pray for him as the bible commands. He is there not because of anything we have done, but what God has done.... like it or not, he will be this country's next leader. I personally pray for his safety, that God give him wisdom and surround him with wise people with a heart to do good, and that God turn a heart of stone for a heart of flesh.

So there it is. I think you may begin to understand how I tick and why I voted Barack Obama :)

I think the Church has a lot to think about... The doctrine of regeneration has been thrown to the wind for "decisionism" and praying a "simple prayer" to "make" Jesus the Lord of your life, INSTEAD of God, as supported by the bible, choosing his elect, and doing a regenerative work in the heart of the believer who then can confess, AFTER they have been regenerated with their mouth and believe in their heart that Jesus Christ is Lord. The sinner heart is incapable of making a confession AND believing in their heart, for even the demons believe and tremble. "Who then can be saved?" you ask... watch and learn, and ask the Spirit to lead you into truth in this matter.

In selected verses of Psalm 36 David describes the traits of the wicked, who have not accepted Jesus Christ as Lord, and choose to continue in their evil ways:

1. There is no fear of God before their eyes.

But CHRISTIAN, you have a reason to be thankful this morning, for God has loved you before the foundation of the world, CHOSEN YOU to express His eternal love through his great grace! The wicked sinner is incapable of fearing God without God's intervention... for this simple reason, WE OWE THE LORD OUR LIFE!

His love, reaches to the heavens, His faithfulness to the skies. How priceless is His unfailing love! Both high and low among men find refuge in the shadow of His wings. They feast on the abundance of His house; The LORD GOD gives them drink from His river of delights.

For with GOD is the fountain of life; in His light we see light.

God shall continue His love to those who know Him, but the question is DO YOU KNOW GOD FOR YOURSELF? Is your life bearing the fruits of a true Christian, or are you just pretending?

Today is not the day to play around with God, TODAY IS THE DAY OF SALVATION!

Salvation is more than a prayer, it is a supernatural work of God. You will be a new Creature in Christ who can confess with their mouth and believe in their heart that JESUS CHRIST IS LORD... let God turn your heart of stone into flesh today....

Black Women Need to be Re-Educated? I Think NOT!

Please note: this blog is in no way a method in giving this particular male I shall speak on a spot in the limelight, so for that purpose I will not be mentioning the male's book or his name anywhere. (Cause he is certainly not a man at all)

He will affectionately be referred to as THE PIG from now on. :)

Anyway one of my associates sent me a link to a blog where THE PIG was the blog's highlight story and how he wrote a book proclaiming himself as the great re-educator of Black women everywhere, commenting that Black women have got it all wrong about men, and he has it all right. THE PIG says there is a reason that successful Black women are always asking themselves "why don't I have a man?" and the reason is NOT that Black men are intimidated by their success. The "real" reasons, along with other tomfoolery are located in his book: The Black woman's unashamed no holds barred guide in how she can find herself a successful Black man.

Maybe I have the order of things incorrect, (I don't) but my Bible says that a man is supposed to find his wife... not the other way around. STRIKE ONE.

For some stupid reason I found myself curious about this insanity and decide to listen to excerpts of his book online....

THE VERDICT????

HE IS A PIG therefore he now bears the name.

If you want to be with a pig, you listen to him. When did men get this crazy like this? Oh I forgot this type of male isn't saved. I thank you Lord for 2 Corinthians 6:14 do not be yoked together with unbelievers... this is your inheritance, lots of undue pain and grief from a man who doesn't even love Christ, or himself, so how can he love you the way you are supposed to be loved woman?

Anyway here is what I got from that filth I poisoned my spirit with today...

This is REASON NUMERO UNO why women need not be going after men!!! It was meant to be the other way around... the man should be pursuing YOU.

Continuing my paraphrase...all THE PIG needs you as a woman to do for him is be attractive, know how to cook and clean, and stop complaining and you can have him.

Hmmm you are the prize I get for all that work?

He also stressing appearance in saying that he prefers women that are in shape and if you have any sort of flaw you need to "get that in check" before you even start to pursue a man. STRIKE TWO.

I am not discounting the importance of keeping up your appearance as a woman, but looking at him he is about a biscuit away from being overweight and he has the nerve to talk about what he wants in a woman? The sheer audacity... HE is the one here who lacks wisdom... does he not know that all of these external things fade with age and time?

See my theory is that he is really looking for a prostitute, who just does what he asks without anything HE NEEDS TO DO IN RETURN for her.

What do you expect from s SELFISH PIG?

Paraphrase... THE PIG SPEAKS.

Men beep their horns from their cars at women because they want to acknowledge that you are cute, but he's got things to do? Take it as a compliment that a man can't even get out of their cars any more because they are "too busy."

I read he has a girlfriend... poor thing. Run like hell!

THE PIG also has an opinion about men paying for anything on a date, (comparing women who let men pay for them on dates to prostitutes) calling virgins "the biggest prostitutes of all." saying that he could probably get a prostitute to perform for less than a cost of a date. I guess that is what women are to him.

Wow this is what it has come to in relationships between men and women? Men are now demanding that women go after them? Men actually having the nerve to want to be pursued by women? That is that punkish mess....

I know in my heart of hearts that PIGS never go after the virtue in a woman. They aren't looking for the quiet spirit, or the woman who not only attractive on the outside, but the inward too. A woman who is worth more than rubies and more precious than gold. You can't have this woman simply because you shell out money for a date. I'm quite sure that this woman doesn't want THE PIG or his mentality.

That kind of woman is THE PIG'S worst nightmare. That woman is the Proverbs 31 kind of woman.
If you watch enough BET you would think that a woman was a collection of body parts you just threw money at anyway. No wonder men like THE PIG are encouraged to think that any lil' ole piece of man is good enough for a woman.

I think when you truly look at men like this you figure out that not only do they have a deep hatred for women, but a deeper hatred for themselves and well if you want to go deeper GOD himself.

I'm going to flip select verses Ephesians 5:22-32 for you.

Husbands, hate your wives, just as Christ hated the church and gave himself up for her???

OF COURSE THAT MAKES NO SENSE! Christ loves the Church, but when you have a man who doesn't love Christ and has not accepted him as savior and Lord, and has shown fruits of being saved. Then they hate God and will hate you... as a girlfriend and especially as a wife.

In this same way, husbands ought to hate their wives as their own bodies.

THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN A MAN DOES NOT ACCEPT CHRIST... THE EFFECTS TRICKLE DOWN...

.... He who hates his wife hates himself.

Do you see how twisted it is in how the world does things... this is NOT of God.

Christian Ladies please don't unevenly yoke yourself with this kind of man.

What unsaved men do to the saved woman he is dating:

1. They will turn you away from the faith.

2. They will not love you as Christ loved the Church... the way you SHOULD BE LOVED.

3. They will encourage you to sin.

Well I've got an education for him... Lord thank you for sparing me from men like this who don't love themselves...

Too much pointing the finger outward instead of himself who in his audio insert constantly called women out of their name and compared them to streetwalkers. This type of boy hasn't matured into manhood and is still dependent on women to take care of him. He wants a mommy, not a real woman. It is true for so many of our society's men. It is truly a sad day in the male species.

Proverbs 18:22 - He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the LORD.

Every example in the word, which points to a woman going after a man or pursuing him, you will find that woman is considered immoral. Check the examples from Potiphar's wife with Joseph to immoral woman in Proverbs to the harlot in Revelation.

In other words, not exactly the best idea ladies. Black women, your education is from the word of God you studying to be better women. Everything else, is for THE PIGS.

All is Tolerated - EXCEPT RADICAL CHRISTIANITY That Is...

This is a VENT that I posted on a listserv, and I wanted to share it with you all:

I have wanted to comment on this for a minute now, but since this campaign and many commentators on TV have driven me to do so. The Evangelical Christian is the only group left in America that is severely criticized and discriminated against because of their religious beliefs. I heard a commentator say (actually the new gal Rachel Maddow on MSNBC) say out of her mouth that if you believe that God has a hand in world affairs that it was an issue with anyone running for president because they are to "radical" or "extreme."

The absolute nerve of these God hating people...

So I guess folks in this country say "In God We Trust" WE don't really mean it. We don't REALLY want God involve in our affairs... UNTIL WE SCREW UP THAT IS or there is some tragedy.

The first words you say are OH MY GOD.... interesting isn't it? We only "want" God when it is convenient for us, and when he fits into our little schedules. Funny if God did that to us how would we fare? Not very well IMHO.

This is the GOD of the universe.... are you out of your minds? I really think so.

It has become cosmopolitan to bash Christians who have a fundamental belief that the Bible is the literal word of God, and that every word in that Bible is true. It's OK to be a Muslim, a Buddhist, a Catholic, a lukewarm Christian (cause they are not all radical and stuff) and anything else but an "evangelical."

A soror sent a quote about Sarah Palin being an evangelical like it was a BAD THING. While I'm not voting for McCain, a lot of people I know ARE based off of the way the liberal media treats them and those who continue to sneak in these attacks against Fundamentalist Christians, NOT TO MENTION that Republicans (even though I know they are frauds half of the time) continue to speak out on issues that us evangelicals care about while the dems seem real lukewarm about them.

Yeah I do NOT believe in the THEORY of evolution... I believe the bible is the LITERAL word of God.... I believe God has a hand in human events when he is asked to intervene... I am pro-life regardless of the circumstance in which the baby is conceived.... I believe a man named Jesus walked this Earth sinless 2000 + years ago died on a cross for my sins so that I may live.... CURRENTLY anti-death penalty though I believe the Bible when it says we pray for our leaders (no matter how dumb they are) the sword is given to them to protect.... and I believe that one day if my life depended on it, I will NEVER DENY HIM.... JESUS IS LORD.

Yep I'm an extreme over the top, JESUS FREAK.

I also have two degrees working on a third, Black woman.

So what? I still have a vote in this country, and I'm seriously tired of people belittling what I hold dear. That is all.

Choose this Day Who You Will Serve...

Why are you surprised about our country's recent financial woes?

Our greed and our reliance on capitalism have caused us to make unwise investments, and in the process, we are losing our jobs, our pensions, and everything we have worked for. All of this is because of the pursuit of money and profits. We cannot blame this on one administration or group of persons. We have ourselves to blame.

Haven't you heard that WISE MAN over 2,000 years ago and what he said concerning these times: "You cannot serve God and money." I'm sure you have, but why do we choose the yoke slavery over God's yoke that is easy and light?

I guess I am in a reflective mood this morning. We are so quick to point the blame to others when things fail... have we really looked at ourselves as a country for the financial mess we are in? As a country we are borrowing from other nations. We are fighting a war based on lies and deceit for the pursuit of money, and we are master consumers of everything in this country, all the while we have the poor in the streets while we drive our expensive cars, and wear our $1,000 shoes and expensive clothing and jewelry... but we wonder why we are all slaves to our debt.

America is only doing what our country is doing. We are selling ourselves out to the slavery of debt. Did you know that the average lender gives you debt up to 250 times the amount that you are able to repay? That means that this system is built to keep you in slavery to debt. Wake up AMERICA! Why does this surprise you?

What does the word say?

Habakkuk 2:7
Will not your debtors suddenly arise? Will they not wake aup and make you tremble? Then you will become their victim.

A debtor has power over you to at least be a great annoyance if you owe then and at worst the ones ruining your good name when you cannot afford (or choose not to) pay.

People are losing their homes because of greed all around. You bought a house you know you can't afford now you are looking at your government to bail you out. The lender was thinking about his commissions so he lied and sold you a house he or she knew you couldn't afford, not doing the right thing by rejecting your application and telling you to make more money or save more. Wae have ourselves to blame.

These banks are going under because of their greed. Making terrible investments gambling instead of being smart. However our economy is so dependent on these private entities that as a government we must bail them out when they mess up. Thousands of people lose their money in one fail swoop... the banks aren't returning phone calls.

That credit card company decides that just because you missed a payment last month that they have the right to raise your interest rate, lower your credit card limit, or close your account all together, all of which negatively affects your credit score. Low FICA scores mean companies can charge you more interest, which is simply more money for them. Wow. A system that is waiting for you to get in debt and miss a payment so they can pile on more debt while you're vulnerable.

Sounds predatory to me. They belong to their father the devil, seeking whom he may devour.

It is all about whom we choose to serve.

This country's God is money and greed, and unfortunately, this is what you reap when you sow into monetary gain.
