Steve Harvey and a Room FULL of Church Folk

Steve Harvey, noted comedian, former star of his own self named TV sitcom, and current host of his own self named syndicated radio program, recently went on TBN (Which will affectionately be known as the Trash Broadcasting Network) and provided an emotional testimony to the TBN audience concerning his profession of faith in Christ. Pastor and gospel artist Donnie McClurkin was the host for the evening. If you have not seen this testimony I encourage you to please CLICK HERE and watch the testimony on YouTube.

Through the tears and sincerely stated sentiments, there were many things that were said during this show that troubled this blog writer. I do not understand how a "Christian" broadcasting network could let these statements hit the airwaves without correction or disclaimer. Come to think of it, 90% of TBN's programming could use loving biblical correction.

Then I remember... this is TBN - the TRASH Broadcasting Network.

It also troubles me that a room FULL of church folks in the audience were praising God, and clapping their hands to these troubling statements. We as the "church" are way too addicted to being entertained, so it surprises me not that we will sacrifice biblical truth for the chance to hoop and holler.

To better clarify Harvey's statements in light of scripture, this video I have found is pretty helpful.

I have also included a video I made recently after I saw the show:

Please note: I am in no way questioning the sincerity of Harvey's continued confession of faith, for this sista can look back to her conversion and early walk, and how it was filled with bumps in the road, scriptural inaccuracies, and an infant view of the faith. Please pray for Steve Harvey for I believe he deserves that time to grow in Christ that the Spirit may conform him... that is if his profession of faith is indeed real.

If he is in Christ, the Father will enjoy watching his servant go from crawling, and suckling on milk, to walking and solid food, but be sure of this, there is no servant of Christ who remains in infancy, for the Christian must produce good fruit... MUST.

So hopefully, Steve will stop promoting a book with ideas that gives couples "permission" to fornicate 90 days into a relationship. Maybe he will stop performing comedy specials which are laced with inappropriate subject matter and cursing. Maybe he will stop trying to justify his alliance with an industry which makes money off of the former activities.

Maybe people like Donnie McClurkin are ministering to Steve behind closed doors and showing the love of Christ, but I cannot help but be bothered by some of these statements being passed off as fact by TBN while McClurkin just looked on nodding approvingly.

Let us not forget the TBN audience, who raised their hands, hooped and hollered like they were 16 year olds at a Jonas Brothers concert being entertained at the very presence of Steve Harvey. Clapping, applauding, approving... false doctrines. Boy we as sheep are gullible.

Silly me! Then I remember... this is TBN - the TRASH Broadcasting Network.

We have much praying to do.
